In a recent interview, Justin Theroux opened up about his enduring affection for ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, despite their divorce over five years ago. The actor, who is now engaged to Nicole Brydon Bloom, expressed a deep sense of protectiveness over Aniston, particularly in light of her public response to J.D. Vance, the Republican senator and vice-presidential candidate.
Theroux shared that Aniston remains “very dear” to him and emphasized his protective feelings following her interaction with Vance. This stemmed from resurfaced comments made by Vance in 2021, where he criticized childless women, referring to them as “childless cat ladies.” Aniston, who has been open about her struggles with infertility, responded sharply to Vance’s remarks, pointing out the potential harm of limiting reproductive choices for women. She shared on social media, “Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
Theroux praised Aniston’s handling of the situation, noting that she “batted back criticism” as expected. Their relationship, which ended amicably in 2018 after being married for three years, has remained a subject of public interest, largely because of how the two have stayed supportive of each other. Theroux has previously shared that although they don’t talk daily, they continue to text, FaceTime, and maintain a strong friendship.
Now newly engaged, Theroux proposed to Bloom while promoting his latest film ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ at the Venice Film Festival. Despite moving forward in his personal life, Theroux’s comments reveal a lasting fondness for Aniston, highlighting how respect and mutual care have defined their post-marriage bond.
