Taylor Swift envisioned a partner comfortable with fame long before meeting Travis Kelce. In a resurfaced 2011 60 Minutes interview, recently discussed on the A Second Look podcast, the then 21-year-old singer opened up about her desire for a relationship where her partner could handle the same level of public attention.
"It's heartbreaking when things click, but your comfort with fame differs from the person you're dating," Swift shared. "I don't care who's watching, but for some, it matters a lot."
Now 34, Swift further explained that it would be difficult to have a solid relationship with someone who cares excessively about privacy, saying it seems unnecessary to be overly concerned with keeping people out.
Fast forward over a decade, and Swift's wish has seemingly come true. Since going public with NFL star Travis Kelce, 34, the couple has embraced the attention surrounding their relationship. They've been seen together at high-profile events like the U.S. Open and Super Bowl, as well as enjoying more intimate outings in New York City.
Kelce even made a special appearance at Swift's London Eras Tour show, where he carried her across the stage while wearing a black tuxedo.
In a September interview on CBS Mornings, Kelce addressed the attention that comes with dating Swift, saying, "This is the life I chose. I have fun with it. It's part of wanting to do exciting things like this."
The Kansas City Chiefs player also discussed how his family has reacted to his increased fame. "Mama Kelce is having a blast," he said, adding that his dad is getting more used to it, and his brother, retired NFL star Jason Kelce, has always handled fame well.
Kelce also reflected on why he believes people are rooting for him, saying, "I hope it's because they see I'm genuine, love what I do, and want to bring joy to others."
