The "Ex's and Oh's" singer thought back on the fallout from their public back and forth a month after disclosing details of her turbulent relationship with dad Rob Schneider.

According to Elle, "I never in a million years thought that was going to go viral," in a Sept. 19 interview with People. "I was just talking about my early years and my reality. I had no intention of hurting him."

Furthermore, the singer didn't feel bad about sharing personal information about her early years with Rob's first wife, London King.

"A lot of people said, 'How could she say that about her family?' and 'Everything needs to be behind closed doors,'" she said. "No, it doesn't. Sometimes the best course of action is to just speak your mind and get things off your chest in order to avoid carrying them around for the rest of your life."

Along with not being too impressed with her dad's apology, the 35-year-old—who has a 3-year-old son named Lucky—did not think highly of it.

She went on, "In the end, I believe that an apology on Tucker Carlson is like a double negative, right?" making reference to the former Fox News pundit's podcast of the same name. "Means nothing."

Elle revealed last month on the Dumb Blonde podcast that, even while she was in his custody, her father was frequently absent from her life. She claimed, for example, that the former cast member of Saturday Night Live always missed her birthday and that she frequently felt obstructed when she joined him on set.

"I would just get lost in the shuffle," she replied. "If I ever messed up a shot, or if an arm was in the camera, or I was talking, I would get in f--king trouble."

Given Rob's history of transphobic and homophobic remarks, the "America's Sweetheart" singer made the decision to avoid him as she grew older.

She disagrees with his actions and feelings, stating that one can only control their reactions and feelings, as they cannot control others' actions or feelings.

Rob eventually replied to the accusations and their silence.

"I want to just tell my daughter: Elle, I love you, and I wish I was the father of my 20s that you needed, and clearly I wasn't," the 60-year-old stated on the podcast for The Tucker Carlson Show two days later. "Best wishes to you. I just want you to know that I don't take anything you say personally because I feel awful."

Elle, in an August 2024 episode of Bunnie XO's Dumb Blonde podcast, criticized her father for his political views and the instability of their relationship. She admitted that she sometimes boiled over and cried when she became famous, and her father refused to talk about her in the press. Elle's father's actions and feelings are beyond her control.

Elle revealed on Dumb Blonde that when she was eleven and twelve, her father sent her to "fat camp" for the summer. One year, she sprained her ankle and didn't lose any weight, so she "got in trouble."
