Halle Berry is opening up about some of her most memorable encounters with famous figures over the years. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Oscar-winning actress shared details about a flirty exchange with the late music icon Prince, as well as a candid conversation about menopause with boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Berry revealed that when she was a big fan of Prince's and attended one of his concerts, a stagehand approached her and handed her a note from the "Purple Rain" singer himself. "He had somebody come out with a piece of paper. You know how kids do, 'Do you like me? Yes or no?' I went, 'Yes!' I mean, I'm at his concert, right?" Berry recalled. The note then asked if she would go out with Prince, but Berry said she didn't send the paper back with a response.
The 58-year-old actress also reminisced about a flattering compliment she once received from boxing great Muhammad Ali. "I'll never forget this. I went up to him and I was kinda nervous because, I mean, it's Muhammad Ali," she said. "I said, 'Oh, my God, champ, so nice to meet you!' And he said, 'Oh, I never met anybody prettier than me.'"
Backstage at Jimmy Kimmel Live, Berry had another encounter with a famous boxer - Mike Tyson. The Catwoman star revealed that she took the opportunity to share some important advice with Tyson and his wife, Lakiha "Kiki" Spicer, about menopause. "We got into a talk there with his wife Kiki, and I told her, 'I got you,'" Halle said. "'When the time comes, I'm going to know everything about this topic.' I didn't have help. I'm now 58 and nobody helped me. So I want to be the voice of the future for these women and help them get the information they need before it hits them and they think they're crazy."
Berry's own experience with menopause has been a personal journey. In March 2023, she opened up about a harrowing incident where her doctor misdiagnosed her perimenopausal symptoms as the "worst case of herpes he'd ever seen." She recalled, "So one day, we're having sex like normal. I wake up in the morning, I go to the bathroom, and guess what? I feel like I have razor blades in my vagina." After consulting with a gynecologist, Berry and her partner, Van Hunt, underwent testing and were relieved to find that neither of them had an STD. "Neither one of us has herpes," Halle said. "I realized, after the fact, that [the sensation] is a symptom of perimenopause."
Berry's candid sharing of her experiences aims to raise awareness and provide support for other women navigating the complexities of menopause. "That's when I knew, 'Oh my gosh, I've gotta use my platform. I have to use all of who I am and I have to start making a change and a difference,'" she said.
