Following a health scare, Halsey is providing fans with updates. When the 29-year-old posted a video of herself and fiancé Avon Jogia in the hospital, it initially raised suspicions.
She wrote, "Happy Late Bi Visibility Day," as the Instagram caption on September 25. "I'm celebrating this year by passing away with a man by my side (that's a joke due to legal reasons)."
Happy Bi Visibility Day, Halsey says in the video while lying in a hospital bed with an IV in her arm. She also holds up a peace sign. We had everything planned out for you two.
Later, the "Lucky" singer provided additional details about her illness in a fan Q&A on X (formerly Twitter).
On September 26, the pop star responded to a fan's inquiry about her health by saying, "I'm home from the hospital now after a few days, so a win is a win!"
In response to a question from a fan regarding whether the hospital stay was caused by a long-term medical condition, Halsey, who has previously been transparent about her struggles with endometriosis and other ailments, said, "I had a seizure! Really frightful! I wouldn't suggest it.
Halsey revealed more about her health issues when she revealed her impending album, The Great Impersonator, back in June.
"Long story short, I'm lucky to be alive," she posted at the time on Instagram. "Long story short, I wrote an album," with references to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Lupus Research Alliance.
The singer of "I'm Not Mad" has already talked candidly about the effects of her health journey.
"I have lupus, and sometimes there are other complications associated with lupus," Halsey revealed on the SheMD podcast on August 6. “I declared a few years back that I had Sjogren syndrome, which is frequently coexisting with Lupus. Being an autoimmune disease, lupus can occasionally suppress your immune system to the point where you get a T cell disorder.”
Of her condition, “I was getting sick very often. I was losing a lot of weight.”
As for the next chapter of her life, Halsey is hoping to turn the page on her struggles.
