Jennifer Lopez and her teenage daughter Emme are boundless together. As her 16-year-old joined her to cheer on Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and the rest of the cast of the theatrical adaptation, the Hustlers actress did in fact make the Nov. 9 Los Angeles premiere of Wicked a family event.
J. Lo walked the red carpet alone, but the teenager, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend Marc Anthony along with her twin brother Max, was the ideal plus one, as evidenced by the Maid in Manhattan actress's Nov. 11 Instagram Story, in which she wrote, "Wicked! We adored it.
For the rare outing, J. Lo chose to dress like Jenny from the Block instead of Elphaba or Glinda. She wore a brown and cream Zuhair Murad gown with beadwork all over it and cutouts at the hips. They channeled the Good Witch by wearing a silk pink floral top, black pants, and a bracelet, even though Emme didn't walk the red carpet.
The two were not the only celebrities to attend the premiere on November 9. The original Broadway cast of Wicked, including Cynthia and Ariana, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, and Michelle Yeoh, as well as Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, expressed their support for the on-screen version.
As they stepped into the roles, Cynthia and Ariana, the film's stars, talked about how much it meant to them to have the original Elphaba and Glinda support both the movie and them.
Cynthia exclaimed to E! News on the red carpet of the movie's premiere, "We had an amazing day yesterday with the women who created this, the architects, Kristin and Idina." "To be honest, being able to share some space with them was one of the most amazing highlights of our year."
For her part, the singer of "yes, and?" echoed the sentimentality of costarring with the Tony winners.
"I must admit, it's a really encouraging witch coven," Ariana continued. Each and every one of our sisters witches has been very, very, very supportive. We just feel so honored to be a part of this legacy and to be the ones in the movie. It's such a sweet thing to share with them.”
