Prince Harry has finally spoken out about persistent rumors surrounding his marriage to Meghan Markle, following recent solo appearances by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that fueled speculation. During the 2024 New York Times DealBook Summit, Harry addressed the claims with humor and candor, dismissing the reports as baseless.

When asked about the rumors, Harry laughed and said, "Apparently we've bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We've apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it's just like, what?" He referred to the frequent and unfounded speculation that circulates on social media, adding, "It's hard to keep up with, but that's why you just sort of ignore it."

The Duke also explained why he and Meghan, who is currently in California, are sometimes seen at separate professional events. Jokingly, he remarked, "Because you invited me, you should have known," drawing laughter from the audience.

While addressing the gossip, Harry shifted to a serious tone, reflecting on his lifelong experience with media scrutiny. "I've had a lived experience since I was a kid. I've seen stories written about myself that aren't exactly based on reality. I've seen stories about members of my family, friends, strangers, all sorts of people," he said. He expressed concern about how such narratives shape public perceptions and the potential dangers they pose, emphasizing, "It can be dangerous over the course of time."

Harry also expressed pity for online trolls who perpetuate the rumors, saying, "The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls. Their hopes are just built and built, and it's like, 'Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,' and then it doesn't happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do."

The couple, who relocated to California in 2020 after stepping back from senior royal duties, continues to work together on their Archewell Foundation. Recently, a behind-the-scenes video showcased their teamwork in advancing the foundation's initiatives.

The Duke also addressed broader concerns about media influence, referencing his reluctance to return to the UK due to the intense scrutiny. In a previous interview, he highlighted the potential risks, stating, "It's still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read."

Later that evening, Harry and Meghan were scheduled to attend a Paley Center for Media event in Los Angeles, honoring Tyler Perry.
