Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson continue to have feelings for one another. The Coldplay singer appears to have confirmed that he and the Fifty Shades of Grey alum are very much together, despite the fact that the longtime couple has been the subject of breakup rumors for the past year. Despite this, they still want to keep their romance out of the public eye.
In a Dec. 19 interview with Rolling Stone, Chris stated, "It is important to say that [romantic love] is such a big factor in everything; even though it feels right to keep it precious and private; I'm not denying its power."
According to the outlet, Chris, 47, did make reference to Dakota, 35, multiple times during the interview. He claimed that the two had recently listened to Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour and referred to her as one of his closest friends, along with his children, Apple Martin, 20, and Moses Martin, 18, whom he shares with his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
After meeting in 2017, Chris and Dakota have been secretly dating for years. In March, several media outlets claimed that the couple had gotten engaged years prior, though neither party at the time confirmed the engagement.
A representative at the time told E! News that the rumors that the two had broken up were "not true," adding that "they are happily together." The reports surfaced in August.
Dakota was actually spotted wearing the same emerald ring she had worn in 2020 when she was spotted out in Malibu, California, a few days after the rumors began.
In 2022, the Madame Web star told Vanity Fair that after they first met, they "never really left each other." Chris and Dakota haven't been bashful about their love for one another, despite their emphasis on privacy.
In addition, Chris' family and Dakota's own Hollywood upbringing as the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith made them want to keep their romance as out of the public eye as possible.
"Maybe I think about relationships like that differently because I grew up in my family," she said. "All of us were cool. It wasn't cool at times, of course, but I've been there, and I don't want that in my life.Being kind is preferable, and it's wonderful that everyone genuinely cares about and supports one another."
