In response to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires that have claimed 25 lives and displaced over 150,000 residents, the music industry's biggest names are coming together for an unprecedented benefit concert. FireAid, scheduled for January 30 at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum, will feature an extraordinary lineup of performers including Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Stevie Nicks, and Jelly Roll.
The event, produced by industry veteran Irving Azoff in partnership with Live Nation and AEG Presents, has already received significant support, including a $2.5 million donation from The Eagles. The concert will mark a historic collaboration between Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer, who will perform together for the first time.
The Palisades Fire, now classified as Los Angeles County's most destructive wildfire, has burned more than 21,000 acres since igniting on January 7 along the Pacific Coast Highway. The combination of dry vegetation, lack of rainfall, and severe Santa Ana winds created perfect conditions for the rapid spread of the flames.
The crisis has touched numerous celebrities, with several losing their homes. Musicians Jhené Aiko, SZA's producer ThankGod4Cody, and Dawes' members Griffin Goldsmith and Wylie Gelber are among those affected. Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mother, lost her Malibu sanctuary in the blaze.
Governor Gavin Newsom has launched an investigation into the "deeply troubling" incident of fire hydrants running dry in the Pacific Palisades, which hampered firefighting efforts. "We need answers to how that happened," Newsom stated, directing officials to prepare an independent after-incident report.
The benefit concert will be broadcast globally across multiple platforms, including Apple Music, Netflix, Paramount+, and YouTube. Additionally, select AMC Theatres in 70 US markets will screen the event. Tickets go on sale January 22 at noon PST through Ticketmaster.
The timing of FireAid, just days before the Grammy Awards, has prompted the Recording Academy to scale back its Grammy week events to focus on fundraising efforts. iHeartRadio will broadcast the concert live to over 860 radio stations nationwide, amplifying the call for donations.
In a show of community spirit, more than 800 inmates have volunteered through the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to assist with firefighting efforts. Their contribution highlights the unprecedented mobilization of resources to combat this disaster.
