Billy Ray Cyrus broke his silence Sunday, sharing a message of reconciliation amid growing public scrutiny of his well-being. The 63-year-old country music star took to YouTube, posting a clip from his 2009 song "Somebody Said a Prayer" alongside a heartfelt caption calling for healing within his family.

The response follows an emotional open letter from his son Trace Cyrus, who expressed deep concern about his father's health last Wednesday. "We are all hanging on to memories o:f the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns," wrote the 35-year-old musician, pointing to worrying behavioral changes in his father. "You're not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it."

The family drama intensified following Billy Ray's unsteady performance at President Trump's Liberty Ball, which sparked widespread discussion about his current state. Technical difficulties plagued the performance, forcing the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer to deliver parts of his signature hit a cappella. A family source revealed to PEOPLE that vocal changes have left the singer "really insecure," explaining his recent struggles on stage.

Meanwhile, other family members have taken varying stances on the public discourse. Braison Cyrus, who is producing his father's upcoming album, offered a more positive perspective, stating he's spent the last year "getting to know my dad better than I ever have." Pop star Miley Cyrus has notably distanced herself from the situation, with an insider sharing that she "worked hard to remove herself" from family tensions and is "thriving and looking out for herself."

The situation has drawn additional commentary from Billy Ray's most recent ex-wife, Firerose, who told Page Six, "It's very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I'm glad the truth is coming to light." Their marriage ended in August 2024 after less than a year, amid mutual allegations of fraud and abuse.

Despite the public nature of these family concerns, Billy Ray appears focused on moving forward. His Sunday message expressed gratitude for "the California Rain" while praying for "the brokenhearted and their pain," including his "children... sons and daughters... and their mother." He concluded with a forward-looking sentiment: "The past does not equal the future."

Trace remains steadfast in his concern, recently stating he "could have been extremely honest about a lot more" but chose discretion. The situation highlights the complex nature of family relationships in the public eye, where personal struggles often intersect with professional obligations and public scrutiny.
