Colombian pop sensation Shakira has once again proven her resilience, returning to the stage in Lima, Peru, after a brief health setback forced her to cancel a scheduled performance. The singer, known for her electrifying stage presence and signature hip-shaking moves, had to postpone Sunday's concert due to an abdominal issue that required hospital admission. However, just a day later, she was back in action, performing at the National Stadium in front of thousands of adoring fans.
Concert organizers Master Live confirmed on Monday that the show would proceed as planned, thanking Shakira for her determination to make it happen. "We are pleased to inform that today's concert will take place as normal. We want to thank Shakira for all the effort to make this show go ahead," their statement read.
Shakira, 47, had previously addressed fans on Instagram, expressing her disappointment about the cancellation. "The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening," she wrote. "I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I've been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru."
Despite lingering concerns about her health, Shakira delivered a powerful performance, treating fans to hits from her new tour, "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" (Women Don't Cry Anymore). The tour, which is set to cover multiple Latin American cities before heading to the U.S. in May, marks her triumphant return to the global stage.
Shakira's career has been one of highs and lows, from Grammy wins and record-breaking albums to recent legal troubles, including a tax evasion case in Spain. However, the singer's ability to bounce back time and again is a testament to her star power.
For now, her Peruvian fans can celebrate the fact that, despite the odds, Shakira delivered an unforgettable night of music. As for the canceled show, Master Live has assured ticket holders that a rescheduled date will be announced soon.
