The podcasting industry is undergoing a significant upheaval. Several outlets have reported that Alex Cooper's Unwell Network has removed Alix Earle's Hot Mess podcast.
Furthermore, according to the outlets, SiriusXM, which in August announced a content partnership with Cooper, gave up the show's rights and will no longer sell advertisements for it.
In September 2023, Earle's weekly program debuted under the Unwell banner, which is a division of the media company that Cooper, 30, and her husband Matt Kaplan co-founded. According to the show's official description, Hot Mess covers a wide range of subjects, including "friendships to family, relationship updates to rumors, traveling and navigating life after college."
The 24-year-old Earle's absence from an Unwell Network Super Bowl event in New Orleans appeared to be the first sign of a rift between the two podcast hosts, which the business change stoked on social media.
Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, stoked the fires by posting a screenshot of an alleged 22-minute phone conversation with Earle on social media, hinting at further information to follow and igniting speculation that he might hire her.
He wrote in the caption of the February 25 TikTok post, "You can stop tagging me." "I am aware of what must be done."
Earle may have chosen not to attend Unwell's Super Bowl celebrations, but she and her boyfriend Braxton Berrios did go to the city's GQ Bowl that same weekend, where she discussed her recent video that implied an impending engagement.
At the event on February 7, she told E! News, "That was kind of a wild one of me to pull." But no, nothing at this time. It's going great, but we're both focused on our careers and enjoying ourselves.
Additionally, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver did not go into detail about future plans, indicating that their romance was going well.
According to Berrios, "those discussions are kept between us, but no, there isn't a timeline."
