Liev Schreiber has no patience for the "nepo baby" debate—especially when it comes to his daughter, Kai Schreiber.
The 16-year-old made her modeling debut at Paris Fashion Week, walking in Valentino's Fall 2025 show. While the milestone was a proud moment for her family, online critics were quick to label her another "nepo baby," questioning whether she earned the opportunity or was simply benefiting from her famous parents—Schreiber and actress Naomi Watts.
But the Ray Donovan star isn't having it.
"I don't have many thoughts for the haters," the 57-year-old told TMZ. "What if you were a professional actor and your child decided they wanted to do something in this world? Do they not have the right to choose their own path?"
Schreiber's response underscores a long-running debate in Hollywood. The term "nepo baby" has been used to describe celebrity offspring who seemingly fast-track into the industry due to their famous lineage. Some argue that these opportunities come at the expense of undiscovered talent, while others maintain that having connections doesn't diminish talent or hard work.
And from Schreiber's perspective, his daughter's success is her own. "It doesn't matter—this is her life," he continued. "She does what she wants with it. And I'm super proud of her."
Kai's mother, Naomi Watts, was equally thrilled, sharing snapshots from the runway with the caption: "That's my @maisonvalentino baby! I'm squealing with pride. Ilysm @kaischreiberrr." Kai's stepmother, Taylor Neisen, also showed her support, traveling to Paris to cheer her on.
In her Valentino debut, Kai donned an avant-garde look featuring a snakeskin-printed mini dress with feather detailing, sheer lace tights, and statement sunglasses—an outfit that screamed high fashion. While some praised her striking runway presence, critics remained skeptical about whether her talent or connections landed her the gig.
The "nepo baby" discourse has been a recurring theme in entertainment, with stars like Lily-Rose Depp, Maya Hawke, and Zoë Kravitz frequently defending their careers against claims of nepotism. Some, like Jamie Lee Curtis, have embraced the label, acknowledging their privilege while emphasizing their dedication to the craft.
Ultimately, Kai Schreiber's future in fashion will speak for itself. But if there's one thing clear from her father's response, it's that the Schreiber family won't let online noise define her journey.
