Comedian and actress Amy Schumer has recently shared her journey with weight management medications, revealing a marked improvement with her current treatment. In a candid Instagram video posted last Friday, the 43-year-old star opened up about her experiences with different weight loss drugs, stating she wanted to "keep it a hundred" with her followers.

Schumer disclosed that three years ago, she attempted to use Wegovy but experienced severe side effects. "I was like puking, I couldn't handle it," she explained in the video filmed from her car. This adverse reaction aligns with her previously revealed genetic predisposition to nausea, which she attributes to having the GDF15 gene.

According to the "Life & Beth" star, her current medication Mounjaro has yielded significantly better results. "Mounjaro's been great," Schumer stated, though she noted the medication isn't typically covered by insurance unless prescribed for diabetes or severe obesity. With characteristic humor, she added, "which most of the Internet thinks I have."

During a 2023 appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Schumer had called for transparency from celebrities about their use of weight loss medications. "You are on Ozempic or one of those things or you got work done. Just stop," she urged fellow stars, adding, "Be real with the people." This philosophy of candidness continues in her recent disclosure.

Beyond weight management, Schumer revealed she has begun hormone therapy for perimenopause symptoms through telehealth provider Midi Health. The treatment includes estrogen and progesterone, which she credits for multiple improvements. "My symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared. My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy," she reported.

The "Trainwreck" actress disclosed her connection to the telehealth company, saying, "I liked it so much, and it was such a good experience that I invested in the company." Midi Health has attracted other celebrity investors including Connie Britton, Tory Burch, Brandi Chastain, and a venture fund managed by former Meta CEO Sheryl Sandberg, according to Fortune.

In the same video, Schumer made a lighthearted promise to fans about maintaining her natural appearance. "I want to commit to you that I will never get lip fillers, so you can always enjoy that I have no top lip," she quipped while looking into her rearview mirror.

This recent disclosure follows a challenging period for Schumer. Last year, she revealed that internet criticism of her appearance led to a medical diagnosis. "Doctors were chiming in in the comments... saying 'something's really up,'" she explained. These observations ultimately helped identify that steroid injections she was receiving had caused Cushing syndrome, a condition she "wouldn't have known if the internet hadn't come for me so hard."

Despite past struggles with weight loss medications where she "lost 30 pounds so quickly" but "couldn't lift my head off the pillow," Schumer's current experience represents a positive turn in her health journey. Her willingness to share these experiences continues to reinforce her reputation for honesty with her audience.
