The 38-year-old pop icon and Joker: Folie à Deux star is set to appear in a mystery role when the hit Netflix series returns in 2025. During her March 25 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Ortega, 22, shared how the production team went all out to elevate the set's appearance for Gaga.
"I remember showing up to the set, and they had completely changed everything," Ortega recalled. "We had a normal functioning set, and suddenly, there were trucks everywhere."
She also mentioned tripping over a newly added walkway, which had been installed overnight to make it easier for Gaga to navigate the set. The upgrades didn't stop there—Ortega's usual tent was replaced with brand-new ones, and she was given a barber's chair and premium bottled water.
"They really wanted to impress her," Ortega said. However, once Gaga's visit was over, the glamorous setup disappeared. "The next day, I was back to my dusty setup," she joked, adding that she wished Gaga had stayed longer—partly because of the fancy water.
Despite her brief time on set, Gaga left a lasting impression on Ortega, who described her as "so sweet and so humble." She also found it amusing that no one seemed to know how to properly address the star, leading to constant whispers of, "Gaga is coming, Gaga is coming."
Ortega spent seven to eight months in Dublin filming the second season, admitting that while the weather wasn't ideal, she grew fond of the city.
Details about Wednesday Season 2 remain largely under wraps, though series star Catherine Zeta-Jones teased in a September 2024 Netflix preview that the upcoming installment will be "bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine."
Ortega also told E! News that the new season is "very graphic" and credited executive producer Tim Burton for keeping the production exciting. "Playing a character for eight months isn't always easy," she admitted. "Sometimes it's a crawl to the finish line, but he always keeps it engaging. It's hard to get tired of a character like Wednesday."
Though Gaga didn't appear in Wednesday's first season, she became linked to the show when her song Bloody Mary inspired a viral TikTok trend, with fans recreating Wednesday Addams' now-iconic dance scene.
