Arienne Mandi, who has appeared in The Night Agent and The L Word: Generation Q, has taken on the female lead in Luca Elmi’s high-octane political thriller Hostage. Mandi has signed on alongside already announced stars William Moseley and Mark Valley. Principal photography wraps later this week in Kentucky.
Directed by Drew Ingram and produced under his Stagmoor Studios banner, Hostage follows Logan Marshall (played by Moseley), a charismatic politician with aspirations towards the governor’s office. His campaign is torpedoed, though, when he finds himself involved in a tightrope-walking hostage standoff that forces him to deal with secrets buried beneath the surface which can destroy his chances for the highest office. Mandi appears as Angela Robinson, one of Marshall’s strategists on his campaign. Her role partners with Jon Lewis (Valley), a scheming campaign strategist who will do whatever it takes to ensure a victory. Angela is swept up in a sinister game where survival, ambition, and loyalty sit on the same plate as stakes increase.
The project Is created by Luca Elmi, an acclaimed director and producer from Milan, Italy. He is an experienced thespian as well as cinemaiture, with the latter taking precedence later. Being the CEO of Roman Citizen, his film and theater house co-produced one of the more prestigious productions Succede and The First King. For his work in The First King, he won Producer of the Year award in 2019 at David di Donatello Film Festival.
Mandi has been gradually increasing in Hollywood and has won recognition for her performance in The L Word: Generation Q, where she spent three years. She can currently be seen in Season 2 of Netflix’s The Night Agent as Noor Taheri and is to be next seen in Tatami, a Guy Nattiv film which premiered at the Venice Film Festival to critical acclaim.
