Carnie Wilson opposes hatred directed at her daughter. The Wilson Phillips singer defended her daughter Lola Bonfiglio's American Idol audition at the age of 19.

At the Music of the Nineties panel on March 30 via People, 56-year-old Carnie stated, "We're human, and the Internet is so cruel." "I can't reply, and the comments are really annoying me."

In the presence of her bandmates, sister Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips Baldwin, Carnie vented her annoyance at people who didn't think her daughter should pursue a career in music.

She questioned, "Would you advise a doctor's son against becoming a doctor?" They say these awful things about Lola's desire to become a singer. She was also really hurt. She and Lola are "real people with real hearts and souls," Carnie continued.

However, Carnie will not allow any of the criticism directed at her daughter—who made it to the Hollywood rounds—to derail Lola's aspirations.

The "Hold On" singer stated, "She loves to sing, so I encourage her to do it." However, I'm really proud of her for having the courage to try out. She sounds really lovely. Her future excites me greatly. Her voice is amazing.

Lola was first introduced to the public on the March 23 episode of American Idol. She stunned judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie by performing "Hold On" with Carnie, Wendy, and her father Rob Bonfiglio. She then sang Kacey Musgraves' "Rainbow" during her solo audition.

"She performed admirably. At the panel, Carnie expressed his pride in her. We came and crashed the party after they asked us to sing. She occasionally joins us on tour, and we love singing with her. She is an incredibly motivating artist.

After sharing the limelight (and the stage) with her family, Lola talked about what it meant to her to try out alone at the time.

"This tryout I think is really going to push me; it’s out of my comfort zone because I am used to singing with my parents and with my family,” she said after her audition. “I’m just excited to grow from this experience and push myself.”
