Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner officially debuted on the red carpet as a couple at the celebrity-studded David di Donatello Awards in Rome on May 7, 2025. At Cinecittà Studios, the ceremony is Italy’s version of the Oscars and honors the best of Italian and international cinema.

29-year-old Chalamet received the David Speciale (Special David), a significant award bestowed in appreciation of excellence in the contribution to film. In his acceptance speech, the star of “Dune: Part Two” discussed his deep love for Italian cinema, saying, “I have a deep connection to this nation and its cinematic history.” He included his first lead role in Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name as the critical moment in his career that personally and professionally bonded him with Italy.

The red carpet moment was a milestone for Chalamet and Jenner, who have been quietly dating since spring 2023. While the two have posed together on more casual outings like Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour and the US Open, this marks their first appearance as a couple on an event of this caliber. They walked hand in hand, confident and in love.

Chalamet wore a sleek, custom black velvet Haider Ackermann tuxedo for Tom Ford, topped with a white floral brooch. Jenner, 27, sported a chic black Schiaparelli evening gown with hardly any embellishments, letting the dress speak for itself. The look was a departure from her usual high-glam style, a step towards more refined, subtle fashion.

Its public outing created a media frenzy that blended Hollywood, high fashion, and continental cinema. It also highlighted Chalamet’s ascendant status in the world—both as an actor but especially as a cultural symbol whose presence unites various generations and space.

Other award recipients that night were veteran director Pupi Avati, who received a lifetime achievement award, and Giuseppe Tornatore, who was recognized for his contribution to Italian cinema. Chalamet’s recent appearance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown and continued success in the Dune saga further cement his place as one of the most versatile actors of his generation.

Their red carpet opening was not all romance—it was a well-timed convergence of pop culture, movies, and worldwide recognition. And it worked.
