Kelly Clarkson is not looking to get back into the dating scene anytime soon, and her children are a major reason why.

The singer opened up about her decision to remain single during a Sept. 30 appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, explaining that she is enjoying the life she has built with her two children, River, 12, and Remy, 10.

"My kids right now, I think there's a lot behind that, but I think that would rock their boat a little bit," Clarkson said when asked why she isn't dating.

The 44-year-old also made it clear that she isn't secretly unhappy about being single. In fact, she said she genuinely loves where her life is right now.

"Honestly, this is not a bulls--t answer, I love my life right now," she said. "Like, it just got to where I am not exhausted at every point of it."

For Clarkson, bringing another person into her life would mean giving up some of the time and freedom she currently has with her children — something she isn't willing to do right now.

"And I feel like if you're going to be in a relationship, you have to be willing to give some of your time up," she explained. "And I am unwilling."

Clarkson shares River and Remy with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who died in August 2025 at 48 after battling melanoma. The couple married in 2013 and finalized their divorce in 2022 following a lengthy legal battle.

Since Blackstock's death, Clarkson has focused heavily on making sure her children have stability as they adjust to life without their father.

"It just, it's been really good," she said of their life together. "We're having fun; we're cooking, we're playing games. I'm there at pickup or I'm there dropping off."

That focus has also played a role in Clarkson's decision to end The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons. During the show's August finale, she said her children had always been one of the main reasons she did the program because of the stability and schedule it provided.
