Lilly Goodis, who worked as a business development, marketing and sales manager at Rophe of the Carolina has been recently fired from her job for using a racial slur. During a story time on her TikTok page, she claimed that everyone she knew was married to “broke ass nights.” When social media users started to call her out for being racist, Lilly created another video to respond to the backlash, upsetting the black community even more.

“A recent video of mine seems to have upset members of a certain community. And all the backlash really made me, you know, just really do a deep dive like do a soul search and after all that, l still couldn’t find a care,” she said in a now banned Tiktok account. In her remarks, fans interpreted it as lack of remorse, hence reporting her account for violating community guidelines.

Rophe of the Carolina took to Instagram to give their stand on the matter of their former employee. They wrote that Lilly’s remarks on social media do not align with the values and beliefs of their company and that they do not condone or support such behaviour. The company is owned and operated by an African American female immigrant, therefore, the situation was handled as fast as they could. They also wrote that they are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive and respectful work environment where all individuals are valued and respected.

On Instagram, her racist post was removed for violating Instagram’s community guidelines. She wrote, “Getting me fired for saying a word you don’t like is sick. Creep behaviour.” She also took to Twitter to write, “Oh no. I just got fired #mob.” Lilly is yet to issue a proper apology for her racist remarks.
