Billie Eilish recently opened up about her struggles in relationships during an interview with Lana Del Rey for Interview magazine, released on June 13. Discussing her song "CHIHIRO," Del Rey, 38, asked Eilish, 22, whether it's "more dangerous to fall in love with you or for you to fall in love?"

"Big question, Lana," Eilish responded. After some playful banter, the "Ocean Eyes" singer admitted that it's "50-50," expressing her dislike for who she becomes when she's in love. "I literally hate who I am so much when I'm in love," she said. She elaborated, "I have a power issue and a control issue, and I also don't like being vulnerable in a romantic way. It makes me feel uncomfortable and makes me wonder how many times I've really been in love."

Later in the interview, Del Rey asked if Eilish ever gets hurt despite hiding it well and being so vulnerable on her latest album. Eilish replied, "I would rather suffer in silence than tell you something's bothering me and have you think I'm sensitive. I come off as a person that doesn't care. I care about people and I have love and passion, but in relationships, I found myself never expressing my needs. It's interesting to notice that, and that's what these lyrics are about. I resent myself for not advocating for myself because maybe things would've changed. But I've always had an issue with weakness."

Eilish, who released "Hit Me Hard and Soft" last month, was last linked to The Neighbourhood frontman Jesse Rutherford. Her representative confirmed their split to People in May 2023. The exes, who were last seen together at Coachella in April 2023, dated for less than a year before announcing their breakup.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Eilish joked about never wanting to be in a relationship again. "I plan on never dating again," she said. "That's not true, obviously. But no, I don't see myself being serious with anyone until I find someone that really feels right to me, and that is not interesting to me right now," she added.
