Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, and Joey King celebrated the premiere of their new romantic comedy, A Family Affair, on Thursday, June 13, at Los Angeles' Egyptian Theatre.
Efron, 36, looked dapper in a gray suit paired with a black shirt and dress shoes. Kidman, 56, dazzled in a strapless nude gown, while King, 24, turned heads in a sheer black skirt and top adorned with flowers matching Kidman's dress.
In the film, King plays Zara, the daughter of Kidman's character and the exasperated assistant of movie star Chris Cole, portrayed by Efron. The plot unfolds as Zara quits working for Chris due to his womanizing and demanding nature, only to discover her widowed mother has become romantically involved with him.
People shared an exclusive first look at the film in April, with Efron describing it as "funny, romantic, and entertaining." Efron and Kidman last worked together in the 2012 thriller The Paperboy. Efron admitted that he felt nervous working with the Oscar winner again but found the experience rewarding. "Reuniting with Nicole is always so great. As talented as she is, she's equally kind, caring, and wonderful to spend time with," he said, adding that their chemistry in the Netflix project is "seamless, natural, and fun."
Director Richard LaGravenese praised the chemistry between the cast, calling it "an answered prayer." He highlighted the dynamic between Joey and Zac's characters and the intriguing mother-daughter role reversal in the film.
King expressed her excitement about working with Kidman, saying, "It's truly one of those moments where you have to remind yourself that it's actually your life. She's even more wonderful than you could imagine."
Liza Koshy and Kathy Bates also star in the film, written by Carrie Solomon, which premieres on Netflix on June 28.
