Hollywood icon Tom Cruise recently showed up to support his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Glen Powell at the U.K. premiere of The Running Man. The film, directed by Edgar Wright, features Powell alongside Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Jayme Lawson, William H. Macy, and Katy O'Brian.

The premiere, held in London, brought together the cast and crew, including Cruise, who appeared all smiles while posing for photos with Powell. Sharing the moment online, Cruise posted pictures of himself with the team and wrote, "Another great night out with my friends at the movies! You guys crushed it, congratulations! I laughed, was on the edge of my seat, and ate way too much popcorn."

The post quickly caught the attention of fans and film industry names alike. Paramount Pictures France responded, "The running men!" while IMAX described Cruise's message as "the ultimate stamp of approval." Fans echoed similar sentiments across social media, calling Cruise a legend and admitting that if he approved the film, then it is really a good one.

Powell also acknowledged Cruise's support, sharing a picture from the event and captioning it, "The Running Man with THE Running Man." This isn't the first time Cruise has shown up for his friend. Earlier this year, he attended the London premiere of Twisters, Powell's other major project. The two actors' friendship began on the set of Top Gun: Maverick—a 2022 blockbuster that grossed $1.5 billion worldwide. Powell has previously revealed that he was hesitant about taking a smaller role in the film until Cruise convinced him to join.

Based on Stephen King's 1982 novel, The Running Man is set in a dystopian future where contestants known as "Runners" must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional killers. Each move is broadcast to a captivated audience, and those who make it to the end win a staggering one billion dollars. The new version marks the story's second major film adaptation, following the 1987 version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

As one fan summed up on social media, Cruise's praise was "the best endorsement." With his "ultimate stamp of approval," Glen Powell's The Running Man is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
