Travis Kelce has publicly backed his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, as she heads into the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) with a remarkable 12 nominations. Swift is poised to potentially sweep the awards night, and Kelce's encouragement adds a personal touch to the anticipation.
During a recent episode of the "New Heights" podcast the Kansas City Chiefs tight end expressed his hopes for Swift's success. "Hopefully, Taylor can walk away with a few. She's nominated for about 10 of those things tonight," Travis remarked, referring to the iconic Moonman trophies awarded at the VMAs. He added, "Hopefully, she can walk away with some Moonmen. Those are always one of the cooler trophies."
Jason Kelce, not one to miss out on the fun, also voiced his support. "That's a really cool award," he said, before enthusiastically cheering for Swift. "Let's go, Tay!" he exclaimed, with Travis echoing, "C'mon, Tay!"
Swift's nominations cover a wide range of categories, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction for her collaboration with Post Malone on the track "Fortnight." Additionally, she is up for Artist of the Year and Best Pop, making her one of the most nominated artists of the night.
The VMAs hold a special significance for Swift. Last year, she made history by winning her fourth Video of the Year award for "Anti-Hero" from her album "Midnights." In her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude to her fans, saying, "The fact that this is a fan-voted award means so much to me based on the memories we've made together recently." This year, fans are hopeful that she will continue her winning streak and make even more history.
The anticipation surrounding the VMAs is further heightened by the possibility of Swift and Kelce making their red carpet debut as a couple. Despite their busy schedules—Swift with her record-breaking Eras Tour and Kelce with his football commitments—the couple has managed to support each other in their respective careers. Swift was recently spotted cheering for Kelce at the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener.
