Vice President Kamala Harris's husband, Doug Emhoff, is confronting serious allegations of assault dating back to 2012, according to a recent Daily Mail report. Three anonymous sources claim Emhoff, 59, physically struck his then-girlfriend—a prominent New York attorney—at the Cannes Film Festival over a perceived flirtation with a valet worker.

According to the sources, who requested anonymity citing fears of retaliation, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. in a taxi line. The woman, identified only as "Jane," reportedly offered a valet €100 to expedite their departure. One source stated, "Doug apparently thought that she was flirting, and came over and slapped her in the face." The impact allegedly caused her to "spin around," after which she retaliated with two slaps of her own.

The Daily Mail reports receiving documentation supporting the couple's presence in France, including:
- Travel itineraries showing flights from Newark to Nice on May 22, 2012
- Photographs of Emhoff with the woman from 2012
- Email correspondence regarding their travel plans

The alleged assault occurred approximately one year before Emhoff met Harris. The couple began dating in 2013 and married in August 2014. This revelation follows recent admissions by Emhoff regarding infidelity in his first marriage, including an alleged relationship with his children's nanny, Najen Naylor.

The woman declined to comment when approached by the Daily Mail. As of October 2, 2024, the Harris campaign has not responded to requests for comment on these allegations. One source emphasized the importance of public awareness, stating, "People should know who their leaders really are."

The timing of these allegations is particularly significant as they emerge amid Emhoff's public persona as a women's rights advocate and during a period of heightened scrutiny of political figures' past conduct.
