Authorities in Los Angeles are investigating after a decomposed body was discovered in a Tesla reportedly registered to singer-songwriter d4vd. The grim discovery was made on Monday, September 8, when staff at a Hollywood impound lot reported a foul odour coming from the vehicle on North Mansfield Avenue.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the Tesla had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills nearly five days earlier before being towed to the lot. When officers inspected the car, they found human remains inside a bag placed in the vehicle's front trunk. Law enforcement sources confirmed the body was not intact, with investigators describing it as dismembered and wrapped in plastic.

The LA County Medical Examiner later identified the victim as a female, approximately 5-foot-1 and weighing 71 pounds. The report noted she had wavy black hair and a tattoo on her right index finger that read "Shhh...". At the time of discovery, she was dressed in a black tube top, leggings, and wearing two pieces of jewellery — a metal stud earring and a chain bracelet in the shape of a "W." The examiner stated, "The decedent was found severely decomposed inside a vehicle... she appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found." Investigators are treating the case as a homicide.

The Tesla is registered to 20-year-old David Anthony Burke, professionally known as d4vd. A spokesperson for the singer told NBC Los Angeles, "d4vd has been informed about what's happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities."

At the time of the discovery, d4vd was on his Withered world tour, with performances in Columbus and Minneapolis scheduled earlier this week. He is expected to perform in Los Angeles later this month. The rising artist, who gained fame with viral hits such as "Romantic Homicide" and "Here with Me," released his debut album Withered in April.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the victim's death. As of Tuesday, authorities emphasized there is no known connection between this case and another body recently found at a separate tow yard in South Los Angeles.
