Nearly two months after the tragic death of conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, his widow, Erika Kirk, has opened up about how their children are coping with the loss.

During an interview with Fox News' Jesse Watters Primetime, Erika revealed that their three-year-old daughter continues to ask questions about her late father, who was fatally shot on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University during a nationwide college tour. The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was later arrested and charged with aggravated murder. Utah County prosecutors have since confirmed they will seek the death penalty.

Erika explained that she has tried to help her daughter understand her father's passing in gentle, faith-based terms. "My daughter continues to ask," she said. "But it's really sweet because I keep explaining to her a few things. And I said, 'If ever you want to talk to daddy, you just look up to the sky and start talking to him. He can hear you.'"

She went on to recall how she explained heaven to her daughter, saying, "'You know, daddy is in heaven.' She goes, 'You think I could go sometime?' I said, 'Baby, we will all go one day. We will all go one day.'"

Back in September, Erika spoke publicly for the first time after the shooting, describing how difficult it was to explain the situation to a young child. "What do you tell a 3-year-old? She's 3," she said. "I said, 'Baby, daddy loves you so much. Don't you worry. He's on a work trip with Jesus, so he can afford your blueberry budget.'"

Charlie and Erika had made a deliberate choice to protect their children's privacy by keeping their names and faces off social media. "We have a girl and a boy and it's no one's business what their names are or their faces," Charlie said in June 2025. The couple welcomed their daughter in August 2022 and their son in May 2024.

Following her husband's death, Erika was appointed CEO and Chair of Turning Point USA, the organization Charlie founded when he was 18.
