Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in highly rated Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha, with the Bundesliga champions exploring the possibility of signing the promising winger.
The German club has made initial enquiries regarding the 17-year-old's availability, although sources indicate that discussions have not progressed beyond the preliminary stage. No face-to-face meetings have taken place between the parties, and negotiations are not believed to be advanced.
Ngumoha is currently in Florida as part of an England training camp and is understood to be aware of Bayern's interest. However, there has been no agreement on personal terms, and any potential transfer remains at an early stage.
Liverpool's position on the player appears clear. Sources close to the club insist the youngster is not for sale and is viewed as an important part of the first-team setup moving forward. The Reds regard him as one of their brightest emerging talents and see him playing in an area of the squad they are actively looking to strengthen rather than weaken.
Despite that stance, questions remain over Ngumoha's pathway to regular first-team football. Liverpool are closely monitoring Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, and a move for the winger could increase competition for places on the flanks next season. Should another attacking player arrive at Anfield, Ngumoha's opportunities could become more limited, potentially making Bayern's interest more significant.
Ngumoha enjoyed a breakthrough campaign during the 2025-26 season. He announced himself on the Premier League stage with two goals, including a dramatic late winner in a 3-2 victory away to Newcastle United FC on his league debut. He also contributed an assist during the season as he continued to establish himself among Liverpool's senior players.
The winger first caught widespread attention in January 2025 when he made his senior debut in a 4-0 FA Cup victory over Accrington Stanley FC. At just 16 years and 135 days old, he became the youngest player ever to start a match for Liverpool. He made that historic appearance under former manager Arne Slot.
Ngumoha joined Liverpool from Chelsea FC in September 2024 after progressing through England's youth ranks. He signed his first professional contract with Liverpool a year later.
Earlier this year, a tribunal ruled that Liverpool must pay Chelsea at least £2.8 million in compensation for the transfer. The final amount could increase through performance-related add-ons, while Chelsea are also entitled to 20% of any future profit Liverpool make from selling the youngster.
For now, Liverpool remain determined to keep hold of one of the country's most promising young talents despite growing interest from Bayern Munich.
