Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi, son of Jon Bon Jovi, have married in a private ceremony. The couple, who began dating in 2021 and got engaged in April 2023, exchanged vows in an intimate event attended by close family, including their parents. The ceremony, described as a "very low-key, romantic affair," took place last weekend, with reports suggesting a larger celebration is planned for later this year.
Millie, 20, and Jake, 22, first met through Instagram and quickly developed a close bond. Reflecting on their connection, Millie shared, "As soon as we spoke I knew he was going to be a huge part of my life," she told The Times of London. "I wanted to be the woman that my mom is to me and the woman that my grandmother was to me," she told Glamour. "But after meeting Jake... I do want this."
Their engagement was marked by a special proposal where Jake popped the question underwater. Millie announced the news on Instagram with a photo captioned with a quote from Taylor Swift’s “Lover”: "I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want 'em all."
Jon Bon Jovi praised Millie as "fabulous" and endorsed their relationship, saying, "She's really wonderful and her and Jake are a great couple." Jake's proposal was a collaborative effort with Millie’s mother, who helped him choose the ring. "I’ve always loved that ring, it’s always stuck out to me, so she gave it to Jake. They were in cahoots about the whole proposal. I love that I can always keep a piece of my mum with me." Millie revealed .
Despite the media attention, Millie and Jake have preferred to keep many details of their relationship private. "There are only so many moments in life that you get only once... It's important to keep those small, precious moments really close to your chest," Millie said.
“I have one of those licences to get people married and Millie thought it’d be great and then Jake said it would be a great idea, so I wrote the wedding vows and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife. It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony,” Matthew Modine Millie's Stranger Things costar revealed in March 2024.
