Actress Jennifer Garner has lent her voice to uplift and celebrate LGBTQ+ parents and their children by way of video. The 3-minute video, titled "Love Makes a Family," highlights the stories of several diverse families across the United States.

"No matter what our families look like, isn't it reassuring to know that love makes a family?" Garner says in her narration over scenes depicting LGBTQ+ couples caring for their kids. "This Pride Month, we're celebrating the unconditional love that LGBTQ+ parents nurture within their homes."

The video was produced by GLAAD, one of the leading LGBTQ+ media advocacy organizations. According to their research study released in 2023, an estimated 37% of LGBTQ+ Americans have become parents, rising to 49% for those in same-sex couple households.

"Jennifer Garner's kind and inspiring voice is the perfect embodiment of the love that all parents strive to provide their children," said Sarah Kate Ellis, President & CEO of GLAAD. "We're grateful to her and the families who so beautifully illustrate that kids only need and want to know that they are precious, protected, and loved by their parents."

The release has been widely praised by celebrity supporters and advocate voices. Miley Cyrus, a long-time ally, tweeted "This is what Pride is all about! All love is equal. Thank you @GLAAD and @jenngarnerstudio for this beautiful video celebrating #LGBTQFamilies."

Sports icon Billie Jean King wrote "What a way to kick off #PrideMonth2024! Love is truly what makes a family, no matter what it looks like. Thank you @jenngarnerstudio and @glaad for this joyful celebration of #LGBTQFamilies."

The poignant video concludes with Garner's message: "This month and every month, we're sharing the pride of being a family because family is proud as long as there is love."

GLAAD reports that an estimated 3 million LGBTQ+ Americans are already parents, with many more exploring the options of adoption, surrogacy, co-parenting and assisted reproductive technology. "Love Makes a Family" aims to spotlight the diversity of LGBTQ+ families across the country.
