Kevin Bacon, the seasoned actor known for iconic roles in "Footloose" and "Friday the 13th," among others, has been a household name for over four decades. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Bacon shared insights into his enduring fame and a recent experiment with anonymity.

Seeking a break from celebrity life, Bacon underwent a transformation with a special effects makeup artist to disguise himself. The goal? To experience life unnoticed. Venturing out to The Grove, a bustling commercial hub in Los Angeles, Bacon was initially delighted to blend in seamlessly. "Nobody recognized" him, he remarked, relishing the anonymity.

However, the novelty wore off quickly. Bacon described the experience of being ignored and treated indifferently as disheartening. "People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, 'I love you.' I had to wait in line to, I don't know, buy a f—king coffee or whatever," he quipped. "I was like, This sucks. I want to go back to being famous."

Known for his versatility in portraying both lovable and sinister characters on screen, Bacon discussed his approach to acting. Reflecting on his roles in the new films "MaXXXine" and "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F," where he plays villainous characters, Bacon expressed a lack of concern for how audiences perceive him. "This is what an actor is," he asserted. "Work is about becoming other people and becoming part of some story."

He emphasized that his satisfaction comes from delivering compelling performances, even if they elicit strong reactions from viewers. "I don't need you to go to a movie and love me," Bacon stated. "If you go to a movie like 'MaXXXine' or 'Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,' and I die and you stand up and cheer, I'm like, 'Great. That was my gig. That's what I wanted out of it.'"

As "MaXXXine" hits theaters and "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" streams on Netflix, Bacon continues to embrace his multifaceted career with a mix of challenging roles and insightful reflections on fame and anonymity.
