Ian Cameron, former design director of Rolls-Royce, was tragically murdered at his home in Bavaria, Germany. The 74-year-old British designer, renowned for his work from 1999 to 2012, was stabbed to death after answering his door. Police are actively searching for the assailant, who fled the scene on foot. No arrests have been made yet .
Rolls-Royce has expressed profound sadness over Cameron’s death. The company lauded his pivotal role in shaping its design philosophy, particularly his leadership in creating the Phantom and Ghost models. Cameron’s illustrious career began with Pininfarina and included significant contributions to BMW, where he worked on projects like the E46 3-Series and the Z8. His move to lead Rolls-Royce design under BMW’s acquisition was marked by the iconic Phantom VII’s debut in 2003, which set the tone for future Rolls-Royce vehicle.
Reports from the scene indicate that cables to security cameras were cut before the attack, suggesting premeditation. However, no vehicles were stolen, leaving the motive unclear. Cameron’s wife, Verena Kloos, raised the alarm by seeking help from a neighbor. She was unharmed during the incident.
