Two months after “When Calls the Heart” star Mamie Laverock suffered a severe accident, her family has decided to close the GoFundMe page created to support her recovery. The fundraiser concluded after surpassing its $30,000 goal, raising a total of $39,022 CAD. The closure was marked by a heartfelt message from Mamie herself, expressing immense gratitude for the support received.
“Thank you so much. I don’t even know what to say. My heart is full,” read the message from Mamie, who is 20 years old. She continued, “Thank you again. I have no words to describe my gratitude. Love you guys. Thank you. MAMIE.”
Her mother, Nicole Rockmann, and stepfather, Rob Compton, shared their appreciation in the update, highlighting the significance of the contributions during their challenging times. “The Fund has now closed. Please know how much you helped this family in our hardest circumstances. Thank you for caring. Warmth, Nicole and Rob,” they wrote on July 17.
Mamie’s ordeal began on May 11, when she experienced a medical emergency and was hospitalized in Winnipeg. On May 26, a tragic incident occurred when Mamie fell five stories from a hospital balcony, sustaining life-threatening injuries. She underwent multiple extensive surgeries and was placed on life support. Her family provided updates on her condition through the GoFundMe page, detailing the intensive treatment and numerous surgeries she endured.
Despite the severity of her injuries, Mamie has shown remarkable resilience. On June 26, Nicole shared an update on Facebook, thanking everyone for their healing messages. “Mamie survived her injuries, however, her road to recovery will be long. I will be setting up a mailbox for all of your cards and well wishes shortly,” she wrote.
Mamie celebrated her 20th birthday on July 8, marking a significant milestone in her recovery. Nicole shared a touching moment from that day, describing how Mamie managed to push herself up and share a hug with her. “It’s a miracle,” she told PEOPLE, reflecting on the emotional moment.
The actress’s journey to recovery continues, with her family expressing hope and gratitude for the medical care and the support from fans. “Mamie is ‘doing well’ comparatively to when she arrived. Doing well because she has survived these extensive surgeries. She is enduring tremendous pain and continues to not give up,” they shared. “Our daughter loves her life and loves her family and is fighting hard every day.”
