Pop star Selena Gomez has surprised fans by announcing her fourth studio album, "I Said I Love You First," a collaborative project with her fiancé and acclaimed producer Benny Blanco. The album, set to release on March 21, 2025, marks Gomez's first full-length release since her 2020 chart-topping album "Rare."

"I always trick you guys," Gomez shared on Instagram, alongside intimate photos with Blanco. The announcement came with the release of their lead single "Scared of Loving You," a collaboration that also features production from eight-time Grammy winner Finneas.

According to the official press release, the album offers fans "a unique window into their relationship" and "chronicles their entire story—before they met, falling in love and looking to what the future holds."

The couple's musical partnership predates their romantic relationship. Blanco previously co-produced hits like "Kill Em with Kindness" and "Same Old Love" from Gomez's 2015 album "Revival." Their professional chemistry evolved into a personal connection, leading to their engagement in December 2024 after dating for over a year.

Just weeks before the announcement, Gomez had hinted at potential retirement from music during an appearance on the SmartLess podcast. "I do feel like I have one more album in me but I would probably choose acting," she had revealed. "I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time but apparently that hobby turned into something else."

The album announcement follows several teases from the couple about their musical collaboration. In January 2025, Blanco responded to a fan's TikTok request for "new songs for our queen" by sharing a video of Gomez in his home studio. The timing aligns perfectly with their personal milestone, as the couple recently celebrated their engagement with Gomez showcasing her marquise-cut ring on social media with the caption "forever begins now."

Beyond the album release, fans can anticipate merchandise and signed products, which are currently available for pre-order. Benny's sweet response to the announcement—"i love you baby"—further emphasizes the personal nature of this project.
