During the Season 5 premiere of Hulu’s "The Kardashians," Khloé Kardashian, Kris Jenner and Scott Disick discussed their estranged relationship with Caitlyn Jenner, particularly focusing on her involvement in the "House of Kardashian" docuseries. The documentary, which aired last year without the family's participation, features Caitlyn discussing various aspects of the Kardashians' lives.
Khloé expressed her surprise at Caitlyn’s decision to participate in the project. "There is this new documentary about our family and apparently whoever has been calling people that have either once been in our lives or are in our lives to do the documentary, and no one has really agreed to do it. Except for Caitlyn," Khloé said. She found it "strange" that Caitlyn would partake in a project that might not depict the family in the best light, adding, "I just know she wouldn’t like that about her."
The trio watched a segment from the documentary where Caitlyn commented that Kris "wanted to be more than just a housewife." This got a strong response from Kris, who retorted, "Shoot me. I wanted to be more than just a housewife. Okay, so? Kill me."
Khloé also shared her feelings, remembering her close relationship with Caitlyn during her childhood. "This was my dad for 24 years. It hurts me too. I was very close with Bruce. I used to lay in bed with him and watch ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ and all this s**t all the time," she said.
Scott Disick chimed in to defend Kris, stating, "People have pointed fingers at her over the years as if she was the one that instigated being mean or being unkind or being this or being that or not understanding." Khloé quickly corrected him, "No, people didn’t. Caitlyn did. Caitlyn always made you look like that."
Kim Kardashian, in her own confessional, revealed she was less affected by Caitlyn's involvement in the documentary. "I got so many text messages saying, ‘Doesn’t that hurt your feelings that this is what your stepdad says about you?’ It honestly doesn’t," Kim explained. "I had such a great stepdad who raised me, so none of those things that are said, even if twisted or whatever, are gonna make me think differently of the life I had."
Despite the tension, Caitlyn defended her participation in the docuseries when it was released in October 2023. "I was happy to participate in the interview process to share my side which points to the strength, influence and prowess my family has in captivating the world’s attention and keeping it over the years," she stated. Caitlyn also revealed that her relationship with Kris had deteriorated to the point where they no longer communicate directly, with any communication going through her manager.
