Cameron Mathison and his wife Vanessa have announced their divorce after 22 years of marriage. The couple, who met in 1998 and married in 2002, shared the news in a joint statement to Entertainment Tonight: "After 22 years of marriage, we have made the difficult decision to part ways. We enter this new chapter with deep love, kindness, and respect for each other."

They expressed gratitude for the years spent together and emphasized their continued dedication to their children, Lucas, 21, and Leila, 18. "Our children have been and will continue to be our highest priority, and we will forever share in our devotion and love for them. We remain friends, and both wish the best for one another," the statement continued.

The couple first met while working as models in New York City. Vanessa guest-starred alongside Cameron in a three-episode arc on General Hospital in 2022, which she described as "an absolute dream come true," despite being "terrified" at the prospect. Cameron admitted they were both nervous about the experience, saying, "I was nervous. I can tell Vanessa was nervous... then I started getting even more nervous."

Reflecting on their relationship, Cameron noted in a 2022 interview that their marriage had its challenges, especially in the first five years. "We've been married 20 years coming up this summer, and it hasn't all been smooth, for sure. We went through rocky times the first five years. Getting through those times, and getting to call Vanessa my best friend and fully enjoy every moment together, it's been better than I could have ever imagined marriage being for me."

Cameron has played Drew Cain on General Hospital since 2021, and previously portrayed Ryan Lavery on All My Children from 1998 to 2011. Cameron battled renal cancer, announcing his diagnosis in 2019 and undergoing surgery that same year. By 2023, he revealed he was cancer-free, attributing his recovery to his healthy lifestyle and proactive medical care. "I'm feeling so great," he told ET. "

The announcement of their divorce comes after a family vacation in Arizona where Vanessa was noticeably absent. Despite their separation, Cameron and Vanessa assure their fans of their mutual respect and request privacy during this transition.
