According to Sister Wives' Christine Brown, Robyn Brown didn't just want the man; she wanted the legally cemented family.
Kody Brown's third wife said that when the polygamist wed fourth wife Robyn—already mom to Dayton Brown, now 24; Aurora Brown, now 22; and Breanna Brown, now 19, from her first marriage—"she started talking to us about these other families where the first wife divorced the husband so he could marry the second wife legally and legally adopt the kids," Christine alleged on the TLC series' Dec. 29 episode. "And I remember thinking, yeah, that's a plant."
Because it wasn't a one-time remark, according to the mother of six, who is now married to David Woolley, the owner of a drywall firm.
She "mentioned that several times through the years," Christine said, "like she was putting that in there because she would have loved that to happen."
Christine admitted that Kody's first wife, Meri Brown, would argue that she was solely responsible for the choice to formally dissolve her marriage in 2014, which allowed Kody to adopt Robyn's three oldest children.
Christine remarked, "I don't think Meri felt like it was planted." "I think Meri felt like it was her own idea."
Janelle Brown, Kody's second wife, expressed her own surprise at Meri's decision to change her relationship status to officially single.
"The official marriage appeared to be very important to Meri," Janelle explained on the series' Dec. 29 episode. "I was actually sort of speechless when she told us that she was actually doing it, because I thought Meri would never do this."
Additionally, Janelle expressed her displeasure with the reorganization, saying, "I already had started to see that there was a little bit of favoritism for Robyn from Kody at that point, and I did worry."
According to Robyn, who recently got divorced from her first wife, Kody, Meri was the only one who suggested the relocation. She says she never said it and denies seeding the idea. Meri informed Robyn that in order to adopt her children, she had thought about proposing to marry Kody legally. Robyn, who had previously divorced David Preston Jessop in 2009, was thankful that she was not legally married to Kody because she had been traumatized by her prior divorce. Her spiritual marriage satisfied her, and she didn't need anything else. Robyn's desire to have and hold the former salesman was a personal preference.
Meri Brown, the mother of 29-year-old Leon Brown, revealed that her real-life relationship with her husband Kody was significantly impacted by the legal divorce. Despite discussing the divorce for years, Meri initially decided to go to the lawyer first, believing it would make her feel better and more confident. However, within six months, Kody stopped coming around. She questions if he had a plan in mind at the time, as their marriage had been trending for the better for the first few weeks after signing the dotted line.
Meri noticed their marriage had improved for the first few weeks after signing the dotted line, but she felt it was too long to keep up with their facade. Her take on the end of their union, both the legal and spiritual version, is just one of the many insights shared by her fellow sister wives this season.
