The 2023 season has not been easy for Checo Perez as the Mexican started the year in a big way, winning two of the first four races, which led him to think that he could fight for the world championship with his teammate, Max Verstappen.

However, his performance soon took a step backwards and the gap between the two Red Bull drivers is 177 points.

At the Miami Grand Prix, Checo had the opportunity to take the lead in the standings, but he needed to win to do so and he didn't.

He admitted that it was then that he began to see his performance and confidence with the car start to wane.

Helmut Marko never tires of attacking Checo Perez, and now he's done so while making some controversial statements which have been labeled as discriminatory by some.

Red Bull's technical advisor was recently discussing Perez's second place finish in Italy, after getting past the two Ferraris, however he referred to the driver's cultural roots.

Red Bull and Max Verstappen are celebrating this Sunday, after the Dutchman won a 10th consecutive race by finishing first at the Italian Grand Prix.

This means Verstappen has broken the F1 record for consecutive wins, overtaking Sebastian Vettel's record.

The world championship leader started second on the grid and, following an abandoned start due to Yuki Tsunoda's engine failure on the formation lap, Verstappen tried to overtake pole-sitter Carlos Sainz at the first corner. But, the Ferrari held on to the lead, to the delight of the Monza crowd.

The Dutch Grand Prix at the Zandvoort circuit took place on Sunday and Max Verstappen was masterful as he came through the rain to take victory.

Mexico's Sergio "Checo" Perez was very close to the podium but an unfortunate 5 second penalty towards the end of the race took 3rd place out of his hands.

Perez gave an excellent display on Sunday afternoon and his fourth place finish leaves a bad taste in the mouth, as he deserved to join Verstappen and Alonso on the podium.
