The UEFA Champions league delivered another standout moment for the ages, as Joselu’s dramatic late brace booked Real Madrid a place in the final in Wembley against Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid came into this tie in high spirits after sealing their 36th La Liga title after a 3-0 win against Cadiz, while Thomas Tuchel’s side had to chase silverware after they lost 3-1 to Stuttgart continuing a disappointing league campaign.

At their home stadium the Bernabeu, Los Meringues were the first to come within reach of breaking the deadlock when veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made a brilliant double save to first tip Vinicius Jr’s shot onto the post and then denying Rodrygo who was quick on the rebound. Serge Gnabry unfortunately picked up an injury which forced a reshuffle in the line-up by bringing in Alphonso Davies in the 27th minute.

Soon afterwards, Harry Kane almost put his name on the scoresheet when he let out an amazing first time volley which just went wide off the post. Before the break, Neuer was called upon again and he made another superb save to tip away a shot by Vinicius which was destined for the bottom corner. After the break we saw Vinicius Jr having fun on his left flank where he played with tease, twist and turn giving the Bayern defense a horrid time. He picked out Rodrygo from one of these chances who only managed to shoot it wide as he was under pressure from Eric Dier.

Harry Kane then had an opening where he forced Lunin to make a pummeling shot in his near post. The Spaniards were piling on the pressure and it seemed that the opening goal was not far away. Neuer had a colorful night as he was again forced to save Rodrygo’s free-kick and a solo effort from Vinicius. After all this applied pressure it was Bayern however who managed to strike first courtesy of a rocket strike from Davies after he cut inside from the left flank.

Real Madrid thought they had equalized four minutes later when Nacho fired home from a Luka Modric corner. The goal was however disallowed as Kimmich was fouled in the buildup. Neuer was having an exceptional game but he lazily parried an effort by Vinicius Jr which was ferociously picked up by super-sub Joselu who equalized for Real Madrid. Bernabeu was sent into raptures.

Joselu managed to double it up in stoppage time to complete another trademark Real Madrid comeback with an instinctive finish following Rudiger’s cross. Los Blancos managed to extend their unbeaten run to 21 games. This set up their final with Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on June 1st chasing their 15th UCL title.
