As we experience another week of thrilling football, we are graced with the knock-out stages of the UEFA Champions League. The French leaders Paris Saint German took on Spanish heavyweights Barcelona in a span of two legs. The first leg ended in a loss for the French at their home stadium. They lost 2-3 seeing former Barcelona player Ousmane Dembele scoring against his former team and then proceeding to celebrate.

The second leg left PSG with a mountain to climb. All eyes were on Kylian Mbappe, the wonder kid of the world to gather his team from the ruins. The Spaniards wasted no time as they scored in the 12th minute from a wonderfully crafted cutback finished off by Raphinha. That brought the aggregate to 2-4. In what seemed as a controversial f=decision by the referee, Ronald Araujo was issued a red card in the 29th minute.

A golden goose for PSG that could have not been predicted. Ten minutes later, the would be Judas, Ousmane Dembele scored again against Barcelona. Chants of booing him were heard all over his former home stadium. After the half time break, PSG had all the momentum. Vitinha scored one of the best goals in the competition from a well struck effort in the 54th minute.

Dembele was still not yet finished as he was constantly a terror with his silky running. With the aggregate now 4-4, Dembele managed to win a penalty with 30 minutes to spare. Kylian Mbappe converted from the spot to complete a wonderful comeback by PSG. The aggregate now 4-5. Barcelona were hanging on a thread and were hoping to snag a draw until Kylian Mbappe struck again in the 89th minute to shatter Barcelona’s hopes of Europe. That capped what is said to be a horrendous season for Barcelona with them having no hope of attaining silverware.
