Inter Milan grabs the Serie A title with 2-1 derby win over rivals AC Milan. Francesco Acerbi scored a header and Marcus Thuram scored to see Inter claim Scudetto for a 20th time. AC Milan scored a late consolation goal and it was in vain sadly. Inter Milan were crowned Serie A champions for the 20th time.
The match however, had raised tensions as Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria were sent off for AC Milan, while Denzel Dumfries was sent for Inter.
But the late aggravation could not spoil Inter's celebrations as Inzagi claimed his first league title as a head coach.
Inter took an 18th-minute lead through Acerbi's goal and then four minutes into the second half Thuram placed a low shot to double the lead.
Milan started a late comeback with Tomori reducing the deficit in the 80th minute from a rebound but they could not find an equalizer to delay their rivals' joy.
In stoppage time, tempers flared as a scuffle broke out between the players which resulted in Dumfries and Hernandez both being shown red cards.
A few minutes later Milan were down to nine players when Calabria also received his marching orders for violent conduct after he lashed out with his arm.
Meanwhile, UEFA is set to increase the squad limit to 26. England and Scotland set to be given chance to select 26 players for Euro 2024; UEFA vote on Monday gave the green light for expanded squads from a 23-player limit to 26; enlarged squads were used at the last Euros in 2021 to help nations cope with the aftermath of the COVID pandemic.
The suggestion was first made during a meeting of all the nations' coaches in Dusseldorf a fortnight ago, but at a meeting of the UEFA national competitions committee on Monday, Sky Sports News has learned that delegates voted in favour of changing the rules for Euro 2024 from a 23-player limit to 26.
