Arne slot is a Dutch manager and former player. He is serving as the head coach of Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football.
Slot enjoyed a decent playing career mainly in the Dutch leagues before transitioning into coaching. He gained attention for his coaching abilities particularly for his work at AZ Alkmaar where he was an assistant coach before taking over as head coach in 2019. Slot's tactical acumen and ability to develop young talents have been notable aspects of his coaching style.
Liverpool has been looking for a replacement for Jürgen Klopp ever since Klopp announced that he was going to leave last November although it was officially announced in January.
Liverpool has on the other hand been interested in Xabi Alonso who decided not to accept the proposal and instead chose to stay at Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool was also linked with a move of Ruben Amarim at Sporting although despite being seen on a private plane to London the proposal was not able to be put through.
Although the odds of Arne Slot being a Liverpool manager seem very high, there is still a lot to prove despite having a fantastic record in the Netherlands where he has been at finals for three seasons. Arne slot’s team has won the previous Dutch cup, are second in their league table behind PSV Eindhoven.
Arne slot’s ability to be a good communicator, charismatic spirit and of course his style of football play same as Klopp's, aggressive on the front foot, possession based and high pressing like Pep Guardiola’s side makes him a perfect choice for Liverpool.
Despite all the links with Liverpool, Arne slot has chosen to remain calm about the situation since he understands that this is a huge responsibility. If a compensation agreement between Arne Slot and Feyenoord is worked out perfectly Arne slot wouldn’t mind being the next Liverpool head coach. Records indicate that Arne Slot has had the desire to work in the Premier league. The challenge remains that since clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also looking for a manager, it will be quite a challenge due to all the incoming proposals as his agent is well connected. Liverpool is in the driving seat to seal the deal and make it happen as quick as possible to avoid Arne Slot being persuaded by top clubs.
His remarkable records will surely earn him the slot. Feyenoord had not won the Dutch title for six years but won the title upon his arrival. Feyenoord has also won the Dutch cup and reached the Europa Conference final as well and still unbeaten in this calendar year.
