Nottingham Forest were standing on thin ice as they were still being threatened by relegation. The atmosphere was merry with Luton Town and Burnley both suffering defeats. Chris Wood almost had the chance to open the scoring early on but denied by Dorde Petrovic who stood firm.

Chelsea also had something to lose in this match as they are chasing European football this season. In the 8th minute, Cole Palmer picked out Mykhailo Mudryk perfectly who calmly finished opportunity thus ending his 10 game goalless run. Just eight minutes later the hosts responded. Morgan Hibbs-White clipped a free-kick towards Willy Boly whose header deflected off Connor Gallagher. After the thrilling start of the game, it eventually slowed.

We saw Wood failing to hit the target after sloppy goalkeeping from Petrovic following Danilo’s corner. Jackson also came close to score for Chelsea after being played in by Cole Palmer but he was denied by Matz Sels. Both sides sought to break the even score. Gibbs White was left furious after heading into the post and Wood failing to capitalize on the follow up.

Thiago Silva faced the same situation on the other end as his flicked header also hit the woodwork. Hudson Odoi was similarly as unlucky as his brilliant curling shot banged off the crossbar. Shortly after, from the same angle, he managed to find the bottom corner of the net with the curling shot against his former club.

Not long after, Raheem Sterling managed to also curl the ball into the net after cutting inside from the left wing. England international Reece James marked his first appearance since December by registering an assist after picking out Jackson who headed in the winner in the thrilling five goal turn-around.

This loss has made Forest tantalizingly close to relegation but their survival will need to be mathematically confirmed.
