Portuguese centre-back Pepe (41) has announced that he'll be bringing an end to his playing career with immediate effect. In a post shared on social media, with a video totalling 33 minutes in length, Pepe confirmed the end of his playing career after ending his contract with Porto.

The United States claimed a record-extending fifth Olympic gold medal in women's football after Mallory Swanson (26) earned them a 1-0 win over Brazil in the final at Parc des Princes on Saturday. Following a goalless first half, Swanson broke the deadlock 12 minutes after the break to earn the U.S. their first Olympic title since London 2012 after a perfect run in the tournament.
