In a fresh promotional clip for NBC spotlighting the forthcoming Paris games, the 24-year-old American track sensation and the 31-year-old rapper share their enthusiasm for the event, while indulging in one of their beloved self-care rituals — manicures.
Meeting for the first time to film the segment, which aired on May 4 during NBC's Kentucky Derby broadcast, the "Up" rapper posed questions to the Olympic hopeful, shedding light on what it takes to qualify for the pinnacle of athletic competition.
Describing her rigorous training regimen, Richardson likened her track sessions to a corporate 9-to-5, detailing her five-days-a-week training schedule with two days of rest. "It's worth the hard work, it's worth the sacrifices. In those moments, it's clear why I pursue this path," expressed the sprinter, who claimed the title of fastest woman in the world after clinching victory in the 100-meter race at the World Track and Field Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in August 2023.
Alluding to past hurdles, Richardson subtly acknowledged her exclusion from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to a positive marijuana test.
