One of the brightest stars in the TikTok community has passed away. Kimberley Nix passed away on May 8th, following a three-year battle with sarcoma, an uncommon kind of cancer. Her age was 31.
In a video shot just before she passed away, the content creator—who had been sharing her cancer struggle on Instagram and TikTok—confirmed the devastating news herself.
In the video sent to her TikTok on May 8, Kimberley said, "If you're seeing this message, I have passed away peacefully."
The internal medicine resident physician Kimberley went on to list her most treasured memories, starting with her husband, Michael MacIsaac, her pets, makeup "in the reverse order," and all of her family and friends. She also said that she was "so proud of" her "beautiful life."
The medical resident also highlighted how fortunate she has been to build a following on the social media platform, allowing her to "reach great heights in sarcoma awareness."
"I love you all. "Thank you so much for this incredible opportunity," she told her followers personally. "I'm in happy tears because you've all made me find so much purpose at the end of my life."
In 2021, Kimberley began sharing updates about her cancer journey on social media and received a sarcoma diagnosis. The influencer has used her platform to not only inform others about her illness, which is a type of cancer that, according to the Mayo Clinic, starts in the bones and connective tissue, including fat and muscle, but also to encourage people who are experiencing similar things to carry on with their lives.
"At the moment, there is only one issue in my life that is difficult. In an interview with People that was released on April 15, Kimberley said, "Yeah, it's serious, but it's just one thing." "There is a lot more to life. It's your work, your friends and family, your pets, the ideal temperature for your first cup of tea, and the stunning snow-capped mountains."
She continued, "Seeing the beautiful parts of life each day helps me stay grounded and focused on what's most important to me, and I keep pressing forward with more treatment."
