Former One Direction heartthrob Zayn Malik recently opened up about his dating app experiences, talking about the challenges he faced. In an interview with Nylon, the “Pillowtalk” singer revealed that he had tried his luck on Tinder but encountered skepticism from potential matches. People simply couldn’t believe it was really him.
“Everyone accused me of catfishing. They’re like, ‘What are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures for?’” he shared. “I’ve been kicked off once or twice.” Despite his fame, Malik faced the same doubts and suspicions as any regular user.
Malik’s romantic journey has been well-documented. From his engagement to singer/songwriter Perrie Edwards during his One Direction days to his high-profile relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid, he’s no stranger to the spotlight. However, he admitted that during those relationships, he didn’t truly know himself. "I didn't know anything about anything at that point. I didn't know sh*t," Malik said. It was only after his breakup with Hadid that he took time to reflect and embrace being single.
“I’m really content and happy with being single for the first time in my life. It's probably wise to take your time before you fully invest in another human being as a lifelong partner," he stated. Earlier this year he told L'Officiel that for now he just loves spending time with his daughter. "I love gardening. I got into it when I moved out here, probably about seven years ago. And now I get to share that experience with her(daughter Khai), because I've gotten a bit better at things….I'm just trying to keep her grounded and enjoying the Earth, rather than all the noise that comes with it," he said.
His upcoming album, “Room Under The Stairs,” is eagerly anticipated by fans, but for now, he’s not swiping right on dating apps.
