A24’s latest release “Marty Supreme” has stormed into the box office conversation with an explosive limited debut that has set the arthouse world buzzing. Starring Timothée Chalamet as fictional table tennis prodigy Marty Mauser, the sports dramedy earned an impressive 875000 dollars from just six theaters during its opening weekend. Despite its small footprint, the film landed in the domestic top ten, a rare feat for a platform release and a clear signal of strong audience demand.

Disney is once again turning to its deep library of classic characters, this time focusing on one of its most recognizable villains. The studio is in early development on a live action movie centered on Gaston, the larger than life antagonist from Beauty and the Beast. James Cameron's return to Pandora arrived with solid but tempered results as Avatar: Fire and Ash debuted to $88 million at the domestic box office, securing the No. 1 spot while falling short of the franchise's previous highs.

The opening marks a noticeable decline from 2022's Avatar: The Way of Water, which launched with $134 million in North America. Internationally, Fire and Ash generated an additional $257 million, bringing its global opening to $345 million. That figure ranks among the largest worldwide debuts of 2025, though it trails the second film's $435 million global launch. The question now facing exhibitors and analysts is whether Cameron's latest epic can replicate the sustained box office momentum that propelled earlier Avatar films into record-setting territory.

Trafalgar Releasing has announced a March 11, 2026 domestic release for the Holocaust drama The Optimist, with an initial commitment of more than 700 theaters across the United States. The film stars Stephen Lang and Elsie Fisher and is based on

the true story of Holocaust survivor Herbert Heller, whose late life decision to share his past changed the lives of thousands of young people.

In a landmark shift for one of Hollywood’s most enduring traditions, YouTube has secured the rights to host the Academy Awards beginning in 2029. The announcement marks the first time in more than five decades that the Oscars will move away from traditional network television, ending a historic run on ABC that began in 1976. Disney’s current agreement with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences remains in place through 2028, after which YouTube will officially take over broadcasting duties.

Joe Cole is the latest high profile addition to Amazon MGM Studios untitled Navy SEAL movie starring Alan Ritchson. The project marks a reunion between Ritchson and director Patrick Hughes following their previous collaboration and continues to gain momentum as one of the studio most closely watched upcoming films.

The movie is based on an extraordinary true story from the final days of the Vietnam War. It centers on Navy SEAL Mike Thornton played by Ritchson and depicts one of the most remarkable acts of bravery in modern military history. During a covert mission in North Vietnam five American servicemen find themselves trapped behind enemy lines and vastly outnumbered. Facing a force of approximately 150 enemy soldiers the team must endure relentless gunfire and impossible odds in a desperate fight for survival.

As the situation grows more dire Thornton leads a dangerous retreat toward the South China Sea. The escape becomes even more perilous when both a gravely wounded lieutenant and another injured soldier are tied to him as he enters the water. Thornton swims for hours through hostile territory while under constant threat. His actions ultimately save lives and earn him the Congressional Medal of Honor recognizing one of the highest displays of valor in United States military history.
