Netflix has officially launched Rebel Moon: Blood Line, a new video game set in Zack Snyder’s ever-expanding Rebel Moon universe. Developed by Super Evil Megacorp, the studio behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate and Vainglory, the co-op action title is available exclusively for Netflix subscribers, accessible for free through the streaming app.

Blood Line puts players directly into the heat of rebellion, allowing them to choose from multiple character classes and join the resistance against the oppressive forces of the Motherworld. With rich narrative layers and high-intensity boss fights, the game aims to deepen the lore of the Rebel Moon franchise while offering a dynamic, team-based gameplay experience.

In an interview with Variety ahead of the game’s launch, Snyder, who also created and directed the Rebel Moon films, expressed his enthusiasm for the project despite not being a typical campaign-style gamer. “I’m a giant Fortnite fan, I play tons of Fortnite,” Snyder said. “So for me, I really don’t have huge experience with campaign-style games. That’s cool, and it’s not really my gaming experience, so it’s fun to kind of get in that head space.”

Snyder praised the developers for their attention to detail, noting the game’s thoughtful design and how its boss battles double as tutorials. “They really kind of give you these exciting boss fights that make you better, because they kind of teach you how to play,” he added.

The game arrives on the heels of Snyder’s two-part Rebel Moon film saga—Part One: A Child of Fire, released in December 2023, and Part Two: The Scargiver, which premiered in April 2024. Both films had limited theatrical releases before debuting on Netflix.

As for the cinematic future of the franchise, Snyder is hitting pause—for now. “I got sidetracked into this — not sidetracked, it’s all uptown problems, as they say,” he joked, referencing his current work on an untitled LAPD SWAT movie for Netflix. “It was a very exhausting, long process doing the two movies together. So it was nice to have a bit of a break from it.”

While no additional Rebel Moon films have been confirmed, Snyder left the door open. “There’s tons of stories. I think it’s literally endless,” he said. “But again, like I say, I’m waiting to see how we want to and in what way we would move forward, if at all.”

Snyder also shared that he hasn’t yet seen James Gunn’s new Superman film, which released on July 11, due to family commitments. “This weekend I don’t think I’m seeing it because I have a horse show — my kids ride horses — but I’m going to try to see it right after that,” he said.

For now, Blood Line gives fans another portal into the richly imagined world Snyder has built—one that may just be getting started.
