For fans of Dawson's Creek, patience is finally rewarded. The beloved cast of the late 1990s teen drama is set to reunite for a live reading of the pilot episode, bringing together James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, and Joshua Jackson on stage for the first time in decades. The special event, titled Dawson's Creek Class Reunion, will take place on September 22 at New York City's Richard Rodgers Theatre.

The reunion carries deeper meaning than nostalgia alone. Van Der Beek, who revealed last year that he has been battling stage 3 colorectal cancer, is at the center of this gathering. His announcement in November came after a tabloid threatened to disclose his diagnosis, prompting him to share his story publicly. Since then, he has spoken candidly about his experience, using his platform to raise awareness and advocate for early detection.

In a moving Instagram post set to Paula Cole's now-iconic theme song, "I Don't Want to Wait," Van Der Beek shared a photo of the original quartet, paired with the hopeful message, "If we were truly meant to be, then we will find a way back to each other." His words encapsulated both the enduring bond of the cast and the excitement of fans who grew up watching the fictional town of Capeside unfold onscreen.

Beyond the original four stars, the reunion will also feature performances by Mary Beth Peil, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, and Busy Philipps. Tony-nominated Michelle Williams and show creator Kevin Williamson are among the producers making the event possible, further underscoring its prestige.

The reading will support F Cancer, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing health equity through prevention and early detection while providing vital resources for those navigating cancer treatment. For Van Der Beek, who now finds himself both patient and advocate, the cause is a personal one.

First debuting on the WB in 1998, Dawson's Creek left an indelible mark on television, chronicling the coming-of-age experiences of a group of teenagers while launching the careers of its cast. The series, with its earnest storytelling and heartfelt exploration of love, friendship, and ambition, continues to resonate today. The Broadway reunion not only celebrates a cultural milestone but also turns entertainment into a platform for hope, awareness, and solidarity in the face of illness.
